Rescuers rehearse main stages of anti-terrorist exercise in Maritime territory

VLADIVOSTOK. Aug 25 (Interfax-AVN) - Rescuers in the Maritime territory rehearsed actions that they will perform during the main stages of the anti-terrorist exercise that starts in the Gulf of Amur on Thursday, a spokesman for the territory's directorate for civil defense and emergency situations told Interfax-Military News Agency.

"Participants in the rehearsal simulated the main stages of the upcoming exercise. The latest BE-200ChS amphibious plane of the Russian Emergencies Ministry practiced take-off and landing on the water surface, as well as water intake and dropping," the spokesman said.

The anti-terrorist exercise of the Emergencies Ministry and other uniformed agencies will start in the gulf on Thursday. "It will involve about 1,000 people, BE-200Chs, AN-74 Coaler and IL- 76 Candid planes, seven helicopters, over 20 small-size vessels, two rescue vessels and a ferry," the spokesman said.

"Rescuers will practice aid provision to a vessel damaged by terrorists, as well as search for and rescue of passengers in water," he noted.

The event will involve operations teams of the Emergencies Ministry's Far Eastern regional center and the Maritime territory's emergencies directorate, as well as forces of the Maritime territory subsystem of the Unified State System of Emergencies Prevention and Liquidation. The search and rescue service and state small vessels inspectorate of the Maritime territory, the 171st detached mixed aviation squadron based in Khabarovsk, the Emergencies Ministry's Moscow aviation force, units and control bodies of the Far Eastern military district, Pacific Fleet, Pacific regional border guard directorate and Eastern district of the Interior Ministry Force will take part in the exercise, too.
