Interior Ministry sets extra security at public places

MOSCOW. Aug 25 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian Interior Ministry will take additional measures to provide security at public places, above all airports and railway stations.

"A decision has been made to increase security measures at transportation facilities, such as airports, sea and river ports, and railway stations," Interior Ministry spokesman Valery Gribakin told Interfax on Wednesday.

The additional measures involve more police patrols and more specialists with sniffer dogs, and also keeping rapid reaction and on- duty services on alert, and emergency service brigades on standby.

At the same time, Gribakin said "providing security for air flights is within the jurisdiction of airport security services," and policemen are not engaged in this work.
