GROZNY. Aug 25 (Interfax-AVN) - Early voting in the presidential elections in Chechnya started in the mountainous Itum-Kale district on Wednesday, Chechen Elections Commission Deputy Chairman Buvaisari Arsakhanov told Interfax.
The elections commission has authorized the early voting for servicemen from the Itum-Kale border guard detachment, who cannot come to polling stations on voting day as they will be on duty, Arsakhanov said.
Early voting also began in the village of Kurchali in Chechnya's Vedeno district, which is also located high in the mountains, he said. Less than 50 eligible voters reside there, he said.
No early voting will be organized in any other Chechen areas, Arsakhanov said.
Almost everything has been prepared for the elections, Arsakhanov said. Ballots have been supplied to all districts, voter lists have been updated, and the headquarters of the territorial and district elections commissions have been taken under around-the-clock guard, he said.
No incidents in voting districts have been reported on Wednesday, he said.
