TULA. Aug 25 (Interfax-AVN) - Rescuers have recovered the remains of 34 people who died in the crash of a Volga-Aviaexpress TU-134 Crusty passenger jet in the Tula region on Tuesday night.
"As of 2:10 p.m. Moscow time (1010 GMT), the bodies of 34 people had been found. The search work is continuing," a source in the Tula emergency department told Interfax on Wednesday.
Two plane crashes occurred nearly simultaneously in Russia late on Tuesday. The planes, which both departed from Moscow's Domodedovo airport, disappeared from radar screens at about 11:00 p.m. Moscow time (1800 GMT), and their wreckage was discovered early on Wednesday.
A total of 89 passengers were reported to be aboard both airliners. There have been no reports of survivors from either plane.
The TU-134 travelling from Moscow to Volgograd was carrying 43 people, including 35 passengers and 8 crewmembers. A Siberia Airlines TU-154 Careless flying from Moscow to Sochi carried 46 people, including 38 passengers and 8 crewmembers.
