Georgian remarks lack moderation - Russian Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW. Aug 26 (Interfax-AVN) - The latest remarks made by the Georgian authorities about Russia show their total lack of sense of moderation, the Russian Foreign Ministry's information and press department told Interfax.

"Militaristic rhetoric has recently become a routine feature of statements made by the official authorities in Tbilisi. Hints and accusations aimed at 'the northern neighbor' have repeatedly been heard recently, suggesting that it (Russia - Interfax) is allegedly a source of all troubles and conflicts on the territory of Georgia. But the latest statements demonstrate their complete lack of sense of moderation verging on irresponsibility in any area, whether it be personal or state," the Foreign Ministry said.

"It is not worth responding to all these provocative remarks at all as their absurdity is clearly evident. By the way, they recently promised to show the whole world 'the bodies of killed Cossacks.' But such allegations have once again proved to be without proof," the Foreign Ministry said.

"Amid the failures of its reckless military adventure in South Ossetia, Georgia's most acute socioeconomic problems have only aggravated, while all resources should have been focused on resolving them, rather than on the search for some non-existent 'external enemy' or disrupting the operations of the Russian embassy in Tbilisi," the ministry said.

"Moscow sincerely wants to help the Georgian people in its efforts to bring its daily life back to normal. We are expecting a specific response from Tbilisi to those constructive suggestions that were handed over to the Georgian authorities long ago and that are aimed at improving all areas of Russian- Georgian relations on the basis of respecting mutual interests, including security, the economy and humanitarian issues," the Foreign Ministry said.

"No response to these suggestions has arrived so far, and talks about 'a hand stretched out in friendship' cannot replace it," it said.
