MOSCOW. Aug 26 (Interfax-AVN) - A total of 3,500 cadets and officers will start the new academic year at military educational establishments of the Land Forces as they have passed entrance examinations.

"A total of over 3,500 freshmen will come to the Combined Arms Academy of the Russian Armed Forces, and five other Land Forces training colleges on September 1. All the educational establishments are ready to start the term of instructions," Colonel General Vladimir Moltenskoi, Deputy Land Forces Commander, told Interfax-Military News Agency Thursday.

He added that the training programs and subjects enjoy a 30 percent renewal this year.

"Firs of all, this concerns the subjects that influence directly on the combined arms and professional training of cadets, and are aimed to develop their skills of mastering weapons and materiel that will come in service with the Armed Forces in the near future," he said.

He emphasized that some training programs included the amendments pertaining to the theory and practice of modern local wars and conflicts.

"In light of the fact that local wars and ethnic conflicts are quite possible now, our cadets will study in detail the causes of such conflicts, and the peculiarities of combat and law enforcement operations in their course," he said.

As of now, there are six Land Forces educational establishments, including the Combined Arms Academy of the Russian Armed Forces.
