Russia to invest about $600 million in army exhibition center

MOSCOW. Aug 26 (Interfax-AVN) - About $600 million will be invested in the Russian armament exhibition center in the Moscow region town of Krasnoarmeisk, said Vladimir Paleshchuk, member of the Interpolitex and IDELF 2004 organizing committees and deputy head of the Russian Military-Technical Cooperation Committee.

"About $600 million will be invested in an army exhibition center in Central Russia within the next few years," Paleshchuk told a Thursday news conference at the Interfax main office.

Russia will hold three federal exhibitions as part of a military advertisement campaign, namely the aerospace show in Zhukovsky, the naval show in St. Petersburg and the army show in Krasnoarmeisk.

"A Russian armament exhibition center will be established in Krasnoarmeisk on the basis of the testing range of the Geodesy Research Institute and, possibly, the Bazalt state company," Paleshchuk said.

Krasnoarmeisk will host exhibitions on even years, and similar exhibitions will be held in Nizhny Tagil on odd years. "We expect the exhibition in Krasnoarmeisk to get international recognition quickly and assume the position adequate to the world- known MAKS and St. Petersburg naval show," Paleshchuk noted.

Sergei Marichev, chairman of the board of directors of the Bizon exhibition companies alliance, told the news conference that Interpolitex 2004 and IDELF 2004 exhibitions will take place at the Crocus-Expo exhibition center in Moscow for the first time. "We have moved from the All-Russian Exhibition Center to a new exhibition center called Crocus-Expo. This allowed us to enhance exhibition grounds and increase the number of participants in the event," he said.
