KHANKALA. Sept 2 (Interfax-AVN) - A rebel surrendered to the police during a special operation in the Urus-Martan district of Chechnya, the Russian Interior Ministry's provisional press center in the North Caucasus said on Thursday.
"While holding an operation in the district, policemen accepted the surrender of a member of the bandit gang led by warlord Murad Geshayev (nickname Ibragim-Baron)," a press center official told Interfax-Military News Agency.
"The man who surrendered is a resident of Urus-Martan. His name is not disclosed in the interests of his own security and security of his family members," the official said.
According to him, "while being interrogated, the rebel provided information on several sallies of the bandit gang in which he was involved."
"In particular, he took part in an armed attack on a federal reconnaissance team near the village of Roshni-Chu in May this year," the official said.
