CIS air force chiefs visiting hydroplane show in Gelendzhik

GELENDZHIK. Sept 2 (Interfax-AVN) - Commanders of the Russian, Armenian, Belarussian, Ukrainian, Kazakh, and Uzbek air forces on Thursday arrived in the Russian Black Sea resort community of Gelendzhik, where an international hydroplane show has opened.

"Visiting the show, the commanders will see the exhibits and meet with people engaged in the Russian defense industry," spokesman for the Russian Air Force Colonel Alexander Drobyshevsky told Interfax-Military News Agency.

The visiting of the hydroplane show has been organized as part of a meeting of the CIS Air Defense Coordination Committee, Drobyshevsky said.

The hydroplane show, which Gelendzhik is hosting for the fifth time, has set a record in terms of the number of participants and exhibits. Over 140 Russian and foreign companies are taking part in the show and a special conference.

The developers and manufacturers of amphibious and shipborne aviation will demonstrate the new generation BE-200, BE-103, A-40 hydroplanes, the TU-214 and IL-38 May anti-submarine planes, the MI-14 Haze, MI-26T Halo, KA-27 Helix, KA-32 Helix, KA-50 Hokum helicopters and other aircraft on the ground and water, and in the air.

Russian Knights and Swifts aerobatics teams of the Russian Armed Forces will also participate in the show. The exhibition will last until Sunday.
