MOSCOW. Sept 6 (Interfax-AVN) - Counterterrorism measures will be discussed at the Interpolitex 2004 show, demonstrating special police and military materiel, and the IDELF 2004 Land Forces armament show, to be held in Moscow on Tuesday-Friday.
"Conferences, seminars and round-table discussions on equipping the police and the armed forces with up-to-date hardware and armaments for combating terrorism and organized crime will be held under the shows' aegis," reads the press release of the shows' organizers obtained by Interfax-Military News Agency on Monday.
The international community and Russia have entered the stage of intense fight against organized crime and international terrorism. In this light national security requires new contemporary approaches to developing arms and equipping law-enforcement agencies, and other ministries, departments, and non-governmental agencies, which deal with defense, private security, and guarding the state border, Interpolitex 2004 and IDELF 2004 organizers say.
"One of the most important events of both shows will consist in holding the conference "Priorities in Military Technical Cooperation between Russia and Foreign States" under the auspices of the Russian Federal Service on Military Technical Cooperation," the press release reads.
Organizers say that the shows' agenda includes demonstration of various types of armament, military and special hardware in actions. The event will take place at the testing ground of the Bazalt state-owned enterprise in Krasnoarmeisk outside Moscow on Wednesday.
The special police hardware exhibition was founded in 1992 and got the name Interpolitex in 1995. The Granitsa specialized exhibition was founded under the show's auspices in 2001. Another show, IDELF, was born under the show's auspices as well, and has now become an independent event. According to organizers, IDELF will become a crucial Russian show in the sphere of military technical cooperation.
Among the exhibits are armaments, ammunition and military hardware, special technical assets, communication, automation and data protection assets, individual protection assets, special- purpose outfits, special vehicles, emergency medicine equipment, rescue and fire-fighting assets.
Over 400 domestic and foreign companies will demonstrate their products at Interpolitex 2004 and IDELF 2004. The foreign companies represent Ukraine, Belarus, Latvia, Great Britain, Hungary, Germany, the Netherlands, Israel, Iran, China, Slovenia, Slovakia, Taiwan, Turkey, France, and the Czech Republic.
According to organizers, dozens of thousands of specialists, including over 100 foreign delegations, are expected to visit the shows. The exhibits will cover an area of over 12,000 square meters in pavilions and 2,500 square meters in the open air.
