TBILISI. Sept 13 (Interfax-AVN) - A group of officers from the Georgian General Staff is to consult U.S. European Command officials in Germany on Monday-Friday, with consultations pertaining to the Rescue Medcare exercise to be held within the NATO-sponsored Partnership for Peace program in Vaziani, a town outside Tbilisi, in September 2004, Omar Begoidze, a high-ranking representative of the Georgian General Staff, told Interfax-Military News Agency.
"Similar medical and computer-simulated command post exercises were held in Vaziani in 2002. Back then the exercise was well organized, thus, the U.S. side has come forward with the initiative of conducting the exercise in Georgia again," Begoidze said.
He noted that the exercise was a bilateral one, but that they were traditionally visited by other NATO member-states, or partners.
"Consultations in Germany will help up define the concept of the exercise, slated for September 2004," he said.
According to him, Georgian officers will have a chance to gain valuable experience, as far as integration with NATO is concerned.
