Putin urges world to "create political, financial vacuum" around terrorists

MOSCOW. Sept 13 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has urged the world community "to create a political and financial vacuum around envoys" of international terrorists.

"Such organizations, groups and terrorists themselves should be immediately revealed, their financial channels must be cut off and a political and financial vacuum must be created around their envoys and lobbyists," Putin told an expanded cabinet meeting on Monday.

He said "a number of countries which have got confronted with the terrorist threat, have created a security system responsible for the complex work to ensure internal security and the struggle against terrorism."

"Russia needs to organize the work of our security system in the same way, so it will be capable of curbing terrorist attacks and dealing with their aftermath, and also working to prevent them," said Putin.

"The entire perimeter of tasks, from foreign-policy to purely economic, is meant here. The work of the law enforcement sphere is not excluded," he said.

Putin announced that "the law enforcement structures have been given instructions to intensify counter-terrorist operations and to make use of international cooperation between special services more effectively."
