MOSCOW. Sept 17 (Interfax-AVN) - The Defense Ministry of the breakaway republic of Abkhazia plans serious reorganization.
"We are planning to reduce the central apparatus in the coming several months before the year end, and merge a number of staffs in branches and services of the Armed Forces to make command and control more effective," Abkhaz Defense Minister Vyacheslav Eshba told Interfax-Military News Agency over the telephone Friday.
"We have enormously large central apparatus. For instance, we are going to unit the staffs of the Air Force and the Air Defense Force," he said.
According to him, the money freed as a result will go to maneuver units to be spent for training.
At the same time he said that 4 Defense Minister's Deputies will remain, as each of them is responsible for a very important sector of work.
Eshba stressed that in case of military operations, the Interior Ministry Forces and border guards will come subordinate to the General Staff and repel the aggression following a single plan.
