TSKHINVALI. Sept 27 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian peacekeepers are accompanying a Russian Emergency Situations Ministry convoy delivering flour and sugar to South Ossetia on Saturday.

"To provide security for the Emergency Situations Ministry convoy that delivered a humanitarian cargo to the republic's residents today, a unit from the Russian battalion included in the joint peacekeeping forces in the Georgian-South Ossetian conflict zone was assigned," Colonel Andrei Pryakhin, an aide to the peacekeeping forces commander, told Interfax-Military News Agency.

"The humanitarian cargo, which includes flour and sugar, has been distributed both in Ossetian and Georgian populated villages in the conflict zone," he said.

"A previous humanitarian convoy of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry arrived in South Ossetia on September 21 to deliver 100 tonnes of flour and 60 tonnes of fuels and lubricants," Pryakhin said.
