Russian Armed Forces to study new arms during exercise

MOSCOW. Sept 27 (Interfax-AVN) - A special operational exercise, involving Russian Armed Forces engineers, started in Kubinka outside Moscow on Monday, the Russian Defense Ministry press-service told Interfax-Military News Agency.

"New and upgraded weapon systems to be fielded with the Land Forces and the Air Force, as well as their contemporary monitoring, automated registration, troubleshooting, and maintenance technologies will be demonstrated in the course of the exercise," the press-service said.

Participants in the exercise, headed by Army General Alexei Moskovsky, Chief of the Armed Forces Armament Directorate, will discuss arms and materiel combat readiness.

The exercise, which is to last until Thursday, will result in working out recommendations, aimed at increasing the efficiency of combat support activities in maneuver units, the press-service said.
