ST. PETERSBURG. Sept 27 (Interfax-AVN) - The Admiralteiskiye Verfi state-owned shipyard is demonstrating its submarines, tankers and other vessels at the Russian Industrialist 2004 and SMM 2004, two large exhibitions to be held this week in St. Petersburg and Hamburg, Germany, respectively, the enterprise's press service told Interfax-Military News Agency.
The shipyard will display Project 636 Varshavyanka diesel submarine (NATO designation Kilo), which is currently under construction for exports, at both exhibitions. The performance of the sub is superior to that of all rivals in the world. It boasts the lowest noise in its type, press service said.
Admiralteiskiye Verfi will also show documentation on up-to-date commercial vessels, including Project 05-55 tankers and some others. The Troitsky Most and Tuchkov Most tankers have already been built and handed over to the customer, the Sovkomflot, while the third one, the Tower Bridge, is coming soon and yet another one, the Torgovy Bridge, was laid down September 3, 2004.
The whole series will number six tankers, intended to sail in unfreezing seas and carry several types of cargoes at a time, including crude oil, oil products, vegetable oils and animal fat. The vessel's deadweight is 47,000 tons. The tanker features automated navigation systems, other equipment and systems for cargo handling. It has a double bottom and 12 cargo tanks with the total capacity of 53,000 cubic meters.
The stands of Admiralteiskiye Verfi that marks its 300th anniversary this November will tell the guests of the history of the enterprise. For instance, they will show a mock-up of the first-generation Bars submarine built in 1913-1915 on Ivan Bubnov's design. The sub participated in World War I in the Baltic Sea and performed 15 combat journeys.
Admiralteiskiye Verfi is specializing in submarine and tanker building.
