Russian, Belarussian, Kazakh air rescuers to take part in competition

MOSCOW. Sept 27 (Interfax-AVN) - A competition of air rescuers from Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan will be held in the town of Agoi in the Krasnodar territory in October, Major General Vladimir Popov, head of the Federal Aerospace Search and Rescue Directorate, said on Monday.

"The competition of air rescuers will take place at facilities of the Russian Air Force's 361st psycho-physiological training center in Agoi. In addition to Russian experts, it will involve air rescuers from Belarus and Kazakhstan for the first time," Popov told Interfax-Military News Agency.

Participants in the event will compete in parachute multiathlon, orienting, race, swimming, and shooting. "The Defense Ministry has already assigned funds for arranging and conducting the competition," Popov said.

A training session of air rescuers involving up to 60 members of rescue paratrooper teams will take place in Agoi from October 11 to November 1. "In addition to experts of the Armed Forces aviation, the training session will involve rescuers from aviation units of the Interior Ministry and other agencies," Popov said.
