Moscow Military District to hold CPX on local defense

MOSCOW. Sept 28 (Interfax-AVN) - The Moscow Military District started a command post exercise (CPX) on local defense on Tuesday, Colonel Alexander Kolpakov, press service chief of the Russian Armed Forces' logistics branch, told Interfax-Military News Agency.

"The CPX is supervised by Army General Vladimir Isakov, Armed Forces logistics chief and deputy defense minister. It is aimed to refine the skills of controlling local defense in the framework of the military district and to manage the consequences of attacks with present-day weapons," he said.

According to him, the CPX is participated in by the military district command, headquarters and local defense detachments, as well as a number of regular units and military educational establishments of the Tver garrison, plus some representatives of civil defense organizations.

"We are going to inspect the readiness of local defense command and improve liaison with territorial civil defense detachments in the course of emergency, rescue and other operations," he added.

According to him, the CPX will end Wednesday.
