Putin wants Russia, Poland to sign arms trade agreement

MOSCOW. Sept 28 (Interfax-AVN) - President Vladimir Putin said Russia and Poland should sign an agreement on license relations in the arms trade as soon as possible.

"Poland has the largest fleet of Soviet-made planes. I know the Polish military is interested in their modernization, maintenance, and cooperation," Putin said while meeting with his Polish counterpart Alexander Kwasniewski in the Kremlin on Tuesday.

An appropriate agreement should be signed to protect intellectual property and regulate cooperation in this area, Putin said.

Kwasniewski said that Polish and Russian military enterprises have always worked together well. He is confident that "military cooperation between the corresponding Russian and Polish enterprises will continue to develop."

The Polish president said that Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov and his Polish counterpart will discuss the matter on Wednesday.
