MOSCOW. Sept 29 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia wants Chechen terrorists to be included in the UN Security Council black list of individuals and organizations involved in terrorism.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Yury Fedotov told Interfax on Wednesday that Russia has suggested expanding the Security Council list by adding terrorist groups and individuals whose links with Al Qaeda "may have not been formally established."
"Chechen terrorists should certainly be added to the list," he said.
Asked whether Russia thinks that this applies to Chechen separatist emissaries Ilyas Akhmadov and Akhmed Zakayev who have been granted asylum in the United States and Britain respectively, Fedotov said: "Naturally Russia has been raising the issue of due punishment of all persons involved in international terrorism: those who have directly committed crimes and those who planned and committed them in the past and those who are propagating terrorism now."
