37 border trespassers detained in northwestern Russia in September

ST.PETERSBURG. Oct 7 (Interfax-AVN) - As many as 37 border trespassers and 181 people who violated border crossing regulations were detained in the area controlled by the Northwestern regional border guard directorate in September, a spokesman for the directorate headquarters said on Thursday.

"Border guards of the directorate detained 37 border trespassers in September. 181 people violated border crossing regulations," the spokesman told Interfax-Military News Agency.

Three people produced alien IDs at checkpoints in September. As many as 588 people were carrying invalid documents and 425 of them were denied passage across the border, the spokesman noted.

As many as 145 people who committed administrative violations were fined for a total of over 60,000 Russian rubles.

"A total of over 1.54 million people and over 397,000 vehicles were allowed to cross the border through international transport routes," the spokesman said.
