CHISINAU. Oct 15 (Interfax-AVN) - Moldova's Security Council is considering dismissing Defense Minister Victor Gaiciuc and Deputy Director of the Information and Security Service (ISS) Simion Russu from their posts.
The Security Council holds the Defense Ministry and ISS responsible for the August arms thefts from army depots, sources in Moldova's law-enforcement agencies told Interfax.
A source in the Moldovan presidential press service has confirmed this information.
The president will sign corresponding decrees shortly after discussing the matter with the government, the source said.
Some of the stolen weapons have already been found and several people have been arrested in connection with the case.
