MINSK. Oct 19 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian aircraft will land on airfields in Belarus and vise versa during the command post exercise (CPX) of the CIS Unified Air Defense System which is underway at the territory of seven CIS member states Tuesday.
A source in the Belarussian Defense Ministry told Interfax-Military News Agency that about ten military airfields of Russia and Belarus will participate, aircraft taking off, landing and refueling there.
He added that about 20 aircraft of the Belarussian Air Force and Air Defense Force and the Russian Air Force would be involved.
The military informed that combat sections at Belarussian Land Forces operative command posts, Air Force and Air Defense Forces, as well as the administrative personnel of Air Force, Air Defense Forces, and Land Forces of Belarus would participate, too.
Also, target designation posts, duty sections of the Air Force, Air Defense Forces and radiotechnical units will take part in the maneuvers.
The CPX involves 1,500 servicemen from Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Russia. At least ten various missions will be performed during the maneuvers aimed to improve CIS air defense, combat air terrorism, etc.
