MOSCOW. Oct 29 (Interfax-AVN) - Fourteen terrorists involved in the attack on Beslan on September 1 have been identified.
"Of the 32 participants in the terrorist attack, 14 bandits have been identified," Prosecutor General Vladimir Ustinov said during government hour in the State Duma on Friday.
"We know the names of another two terrorists: Farukh and Magomad. It has been established that they were mercenaries," he said.
Ustinov also said that it has been established that five of the terrorists killed in Beslan were active in the Ingushetia events on June 22.
He also talked about the fact that a number of the Beslan terrorists had been detained by law enforcement agencies prior to the September 1 events, which has been widely discussed in the mass media.
"A number of the terrorists were in law enforcement agencies' line of vision before," Ustinov said. However, the detained terrorists were let go legitimately, including as a result of two State Duma amnesties.
Nevertheless, the prosecutor's office is checking the facts of the earlier releases of the terrorists.
