Finnish border guard chief visiting Belarus

MINSK. Nov 1 (Interfax-AVN) - Vice Admiral Jaakko Smolander, chief of the Finnish Border Guard, is making a working visit to Belarus, the press center of the Belarussian State Border Guard Forces Committee told Interfax-Military News Agency.

Smolander is expected to meet with committee chief Lieutenant General Alexander Pavlovsky on Monday, the press center said. Their meeting is expected to focus on prospects of cooperation in the framework of the Baltic Security Council, it noted.

Smolander will also be offered an opportunity to get acquainted with the border guard system at various sections of the Belarussian border.
