Kyiv hosting exercises under NATO Partnership for Peace program

KYIV. Nov 1 (Interfax-AVN) - The Cooperative Aura 2004 exercises of the NATO Partnership for Peace program will be held at the Ukrainian National Defense Academy in Kyiv from Monday to Friday.

The exercises will inform Ukrainian servicemen about NATO methods of crises settlement, decision-making and formation of multinational peacekeeping forces, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry press service said.

In particular, participants in the exercises will attend joint briefings and seminars to consider NATO requirements to airspace control, the Alliance's doctrine on crisis actions, the operations planning process, and legal aspects of crisis settlement operations and force application rules.

The exercises involve representatives of 29 countries, including Great Britain, the U.S., Germany, France, Belgium, Norway, Finland, the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Ukraine, Latvia, Romania, Macedonia, Armenia, and Albania.
