Russian military leaders to determine army development priorities for 2005

MOSCOW. Nov 2 (Interfax-AVN) - The command of the Russian Armed Forces will gather for a training session in Moscow from November 17 to 19, Colonel General Alexander Skorodumov, chief of the Armed Forces combat training directorate, said on Tuesday.

"The main goal of the training session is to sum up results of the mobilization, operational and combat training in the army and navy in training year 2004 and to determine priority missions in the field of combat training improvement for 2005," Skorodumov told Interfax-Military News Agency.

The training session will feature a conference of the Armed Forces command, involving heads of other Russian uniformed agencies, he said.

Participants in the session will hear the speeches by Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov, Armed Forces Chief-of-Staff Yury Baluyevsky, First Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Belousov and other military leaders.

"The training session will not feature practical exercises in military units and at joint-arms proving ranges," Skorodumov stressed.
