MOSCOW. Nov 2 (Interfax-AVN) - The murdered commander of Russian strategic aviation, Major General Konstantin Dementyev, will be buried in Moscow on Wednesday.
In addition to his relatives, the funeral will be attended by officials of the Russian Air Force command, Colonel Alexander Drobyshevsky, chief of the Air Force press service, told Interfax-Military News Agency.
"Dementyev's body will be brought to Moscow in the near future," he said.
Dementyev was killed in the Smolensk region on Sunday. Unidentified gunmen fired assault rifles at the car in which he was riding. The car driver was also killed, and another passenger was wounded.
The prosecutor's office of the Smolensk region opened a criminal case on charges of murder in connection with Dementyev's death. A joint investigation team has been set up by prosecutors, the Federal Security Service, and the Interior Ministry to handle the investigation.
