Black Sea region’s border guard chiefs to meet in Sochi

STAVROPOL. Nov 3 (Interfax-AVN) - Border guard and coast guard chiefs of the Black Sea region nations will meet in Sochi on Wednesday, the press service of the North Caucasus regional border guard directorate told Interfax-Military News Agency.

"The meeting will involve border guard chiefs of Bulgaria, Georgia, Romania, Russia, Ukraine and Turkey. They will discuss prospects of cooperation between their agencies," a press service official said.

He recalled that the previous meeting of that kind took place in Ukraine's Odesa in July 2004.

"Sochi will host the ceremony of transferring the organization's chairmanship from the head of the Ukrainian border guard agency to the head of the Russian border guard service," the official said.

Russia will be represented at the meeting by Colonel General Vladimir Pronichev, deputy director of the Federal Security Service and chief of the border guard service, and Vice Admiral Vyacheslav Serzhanin, head of the border guard service's naval department.
