Eshba remains Abkhaz defense minister

SUKHUMI. Nov 9 (Interfax-AVN) - Nodar Khashba, prime minister of Georgia's breakaway province of Abkhazia, has not confirmed reports on the appointment of the self-proclaimed republic's new defense minister.

"Vyacheslav Eshba will keep the post of defense minister," Khashba told Interfax on Monday.

The prime minister offered his comment in response to a statement made by a source in the Abkhaz government earlier on Monday that Mukhamed Kilba had replaced Eshba as defense minister.

During the presidential election campaign in Abkhazia, Kilba was an activist in candidate Raul Khajimba's election headquarters, the source said.
