MOSCOW. Nov 9 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov will make a working trip to units of the North Caucasus military district on Thursday and Friday, a spokesman for the Defense Ministry told Interfax-Military News Agency.
"During the trip, the defense minister will attend a session of the North Caucasus military district council and visit the 205th and 131st detached motorized rifle brigades," the spokesman said.
While visiting the 205th brigade, stationed in the town of Budyonnovsk in the Stavropol territory, Ivanov will examine the unit's stationing area and check progress in construction of facilities under the federal purpose-oriented program of transition to contracted service. In the 131st brigade, stationed in Maikop in the autonomous republic of Adygea, the minister will check the progress in the construction of barracks and visit the fleet of combat vehicles.
At the district council session in Rostov-on-Don, district commander Army General Alexander Baranov will report to Ivanov on the completion of the training year in subordinate units and on their combat readiness, the spokesman said.
Ivanov is also expected to meet with presidential envoy to the Southern federal district Dmitry Kozak, Rostov region administration chief Viktor Chub, and Adygean President Khazret Sovmen.
