Georgia starts training third battalion of reservists near Ossetian conflict zone

MOSCOW. Nov 9 (Interfax-AVN) -- Georgian Defense Minister Giorgi Baramidze told reporters on Tuesday that he would attend the ceremony marking the start of training for a battalion of reservists in Dzevera, which is in the immediate vicinity of the Georgian-Ossetian conflict zone.

This will be the third battalion of reservists to be set up near the conflict zone. Over 700 reservists have now been trained.

South Ossetian Interior Minister Robert Guliyev told Interfax-Military News Agency by phone that the training of reservists is an indication that Georgia is planning an invasion of South Ossetia during which the battalions will back regular army units.
