KYIV. Nov 15 (Interfax-AVN) - Ukrainian servicemen stationed in Iraq probably prevented a major terror attack in the town of Al Suwayra, a Ukrainian Defense Ministry official told Interfax-Military News Agency on Monday.
"A large-scale terror attack was prevented in Al Suwayra only thanks to vigilance of the Ukrainian patrol of the 7th detached mechanized brigade, who is serving at a checkpoint in the Iraqi province of Wasit," the official said.
The soldiers spotted and stopped a Mitsubishi car, and with the assistance of Iraqi police, found a box filled with plastic explosives and a remote-controlled detonator.
The explosives weighed a total of 24 kilograms, the official said.
