MOSCOW. Nov 16 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian Federal Space Agency has no plans to deploy a site in the Chelyabinsk region to get rid of the solid propellant, said Vyacheslav Davidenko, the agency's press secretary, commenting on the developments at the Radostny open pit.
"We have no intentions to deploy a site for eliminating solid propellant at the Radostny pit in the Kusa district of the Chelyabinsk region," he said.
According to him, research was conducted in the open pit to assess the possibility of exploding defected charges of solid propellant boosters and the influence of such blasts on environment.
"The exhausted Radostny open pit was selected to be the tests site, where we planned to restore the infrastructure," he added.
He also said that the Moscow Promtekon JSC was awarded the state contract to run the research.
"The charges of solid propellant boosters were not blown up during the research," he added.
