MOSCOW. Nov 17 (Interfax-AVN) - President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday that Russia will accomplish achievements in the nuclear sector which no other nuclear powers have.
"We are conducting research and are testing the most up-to-date nuclear missile systems, which, I'm sure, will be supplied to the Armed Forces in the near future. What is even more important, these systems will have no analogues in the other nuclear powers during the next few years," Putin told a conference of high-ranking military officials in Moscow on Wednesday.
He said that international terrorism will represent one of the main threats. "We are aware that the moment we take out attention away from such components of our defense as the nuclear missile shield, we will be confronted with other threats. Therefore, we'll continue to develop our armed forces, including its nuclear component, insistently and consistently," said Putin.
He said this must be understood by everyone - the military and the Russian public as a whole.
