Rosoboronexport gains firmer foothold on Latin American arms market

MOSCOW. Nov 18 (Interfax-AVN) - Sergei Chemezov, director general of the Rosoboronexport federal state unitary enterprise, sees Latin America as one of the most promising arms markets for Russian weapons exporters.

"We are stepping up work in that region. We have already established good relations with Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia, Chile, and Brazil, and are strengthening cooperation with Peru," Chemezov told Interfax-Military News Agency on Thursday.

"At the same time, it will not be easy to conquer that niche. Russian arms producers have encountered active resistance on the part of Western, above all American, companies," he said.
