Russian-Brazilian space cooperation program gets go-ahead

MOSCOW. Nov 19 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian government has given the green light to a document on cooperation in space projects with Brazil.

The government has approved suggestions put forward by the Federal Space Agency, which is seeking talks on signing a memorandum of mutual understanding on a joint space exploration program between the Federal Space Agency and the Brazilian Science and Technology Ministry.

These proposals were negotiated with the Foreign Ministry and all other agencies concerned.

The government resolution was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov, the governmental press service told journalists.

The Health and Social Development Ministry's suggestions calling for negotiations on signing a cooperation agreement with the Brazilian Sports Ministry were accepted as well.

The government also supported the Education and Science Ministry's proposal on a 2004-2006 science cooperation program between the Russian and Brazilian governments. The Russian Foreign Ministry will sign the program on behalf of the government.
