MOSCOW. Nov 17 (Interfax-AVN) - The developers of the YAK-130 combat training aircraft are going to test it with the Kopyo-M airborne radar of the Fazotron-NIIR Corporation aboard, a source in the Russian defense industry told Interfax-Military News Agency.
"The developers of the radar and the Yakovlev design bureau agreed to install one Kopyo-M1 radar into the YAK-130 aircraft for tests," he said.
According to him, the YAK-130 program provides for installing such radar, for which the nose of the fuselage was adjusted in terms of shape and configuration.
He added that the YAK-130 developers are considering different radars to be integrated into their aircraft. For instance, they were comparing the Osa radar of the Tikhomirov NIIP research and development enterprise with the Kopyo-M1.
The Kopyo-M1 is a modernized airborne radar featuring units for signal and data processing at high rate, which ensured its much better specifications, including the effective range, increased to 75-80 km for detecting fighters. Also, the improvements allow IFF capability and map-making with a resolution of 3x3 m.
