GROZNY. Nov 23 (Interfax-AVN) - Law enforcers in Chechnya's Shali district have detained a local resident who was involved in the activity of illegal armed gangs, the Russian Interior Ministry's provisional press center in the North Caucasus said on Tuesday.
"A local resident, born in 1972, was detained by police in the Germenchuk village in the Shali district for committing crimes under Article 208 of the Russian Criminal Code (setting up an illegal armed formation or involvement in it)," a press center official told Interfax-Military News Agency.
Policemen found and destroyed a cache in a house in Grozny's Oktyabrsky district on Monday, he said. Rebels were hiding two Kalashnikov assault rifles, two machine-gun belts and about 1,000 small-arms cartridges in it.
The police checked 10,023 people and 6,744 vehicles in Chechnya on Monday. They registered 30 crimes and detected 21 of them hot on the trail. As many as 411 administrative violations were registered during the day.
