Armed Forces chief-of-staff to speak at parliamentary hearings of national security documents

MOSCOW. Nov 23 (Interfax-AVN) - Colonel General Yury Baluyevsky, Chief of Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, will participate in the parliamentary hearings of legal documents forming the fundamentals of national security in Russia, the papers drawn up by the upper house's Defense and Security Committee.

"We adopted a decision today to hold hearing of the Legal Fundamentals of Military Security in Russia: current state and problems behind closed doors," Viktor Ozerov, chairman of the Federation Council's Defense and Security Committee, told Interfax-Military News Agency Tuesday.

According to him, the main aim of the hearing is to thoroughly analyze the problem of legal support to military security in Russia, and discuss the ways to improve fundamentals of the military security in the country.

Ozerov added that Baluyevsky would make the main report at the session. Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Kislyak will also speak in parliament.

"All ministries and agencies invited to attend the hearing intend to actively participate with the only exception on the part of the Financial Ministry," he said.

He added that the session would also see the participation of the members of the Federation Council, servicemen of the Russian Armed Forces and representatives of scientific and defense institutions.
