JAKARTA. Nov 24 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia's Rosoboronexport state-owned arms trade primary displays arms and materiel of interest to Indonesia at the INDO DEFENSE 2004 EXPO & FORUM, Colonel General Nikoali Dimidyuk, head of the Rosboronexport delegation, told Russian reporters on Wednesday.
He emphasized that Rosoboronexport was ready to develop cooperation with Indonesia.
Rosoboronexport's section of the show involves 24 enterprises and consortiums, demonstrating about 250 various arms, materiel, ammunition, and equipment, represented by mock-ups, posters, and advertisements.
Dimidyuk noted that the Russian section was one of the largest at the show, occupying 400 sq. m. It displays export versions of Land Forces weapons, aircraft, air defense systems, and naval materiel.
"We are ready to demonstrate contemporary aircraft and helicopters, air defense systems of all types, as well as Land Forces weapons systems, such as main battle tanks, BMP-3F IFVs, self-propelled systems, MLRS systems, and fire control systems," Dimidyuk said.
He pointed out that at the request of the participants in the show the delegation was ready to conduct a presentation of all weapon systems displayed.
The Russian section also displays civil aircraft.
"All these products may be delivered to the Indonesian market," Dimidyuk said.
At the show's official opening ceremony Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono emphasized: "Being a sovereign state, Indonesia must protect its territory, thus, we have to have corresponding forces, in particular, hi-tech weapon systems, to accomplish this task."
He expressed his hope that the show would facilitate further re-equipment of the Indonesian Armed Forces.
The show sees participation of 250 companies from 24 states. About 6,000 foreign guests are expected. The event will feature a conference "Defensive concepts of states in the region: cooperation in rapidly changing environment."
