MOSCOW. Nov 24 (Interfax-AVN) - A commission of the Armed Forces Combat Training Directorate arrived in the North Caucasus on Wednesday to inspect units of the North Caucasus military district.
"The main goal of the 10-day trip of our directorate's commission is to control preparation of material and technical facilities, training centers and training grounds in permanent readiness units of the North Caucasus military district for the new academic year that starts in the troops on December 1," Colonel General Alexander Skorodumov, chief of the directorate, told Interfax-Military News Agency.
The commission is led by Major General Yury Karasev, deputy chief of the directorate, he said.
"The commission will inspect readiness for launching combat training in the units stationed in Rostov-on-Don, Krasnodar, Maikop, Buinaksk and other towns of the North Caucasus," Skorodumov said.
The main attention will be paid to readiness of material and technical facilities and training centers in the permanent-readiness units that will be fully manned with professional servicemen starting from 2005, he noted.
"A total of 20 units numbering 57,000 people will become professional in the North Caucasus military district from 2005 to 2008. That is why our commission must pay main attention to studying preparation and construction of the training centers' infrastructure in the garrisons of the soon-to-be-professional units," Skorodumov concluded.
