MOSCOW. Nov 24 (Interfax-AVN) - Observers of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces in the Georgian-Ossetian conflict zone and officials of the OSCE mission in Georgia have left for the Georgian villages of Dirbi and Dvani to study the situation there, official of the forces' press service Erdni Natyrov said on Wednesday.
"The villages are monitored in line with the decision of Major General Marat Kulakhmetov, commander of the Joint Peacekeeping Force, because desultory fire was registered there overnight to Wednesday," Natyrov told Interfax-Military News Agency.
There is no information on anybody getting wounded in the shootouts, he said.
"The observers will also visit the village of Nuli, where the Russian peacekeeping battalion deployed a provisional post in October," Natyrov noted.
"The post in Nuli will most likely be abolished, as confrontation between Georgian and Ossetian residents, which started during the harvesting period, has calmed down, and there is no need to have the post anymore," he said.
