KYIV. Nov 24 (Interfax-AVN) - Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksandr Kuzmuk has called on army servicemen to remain calm and conscientiously perform their duties.
"In this time of troubles, I am urging you, defenders of independent Ukraine, to remain clam, carefully weigh all moves and conscientiously perform your constitutional duties," says Kuzmuk's appeal, circulated by the Ukrainian Defense Ministry's press service on Wednesday.
"The elections, in which you participated, proceeded in strict accordance with the law and without a single violation on your part. Despite rumors and provocative reports, I assure you that no movement of troops or military hardware, not connected with military training plans, is proceeding or will proceed. All units remain on their permanent bases, are engaged in scheduled military training and are completing preparations for the new training year," said Kuzmuk.
"I am proud that in this complicated situation you are setting an example of conscientious performance of your constitutional duties for the other law enforcement organizations and for the whole of Ukrainian society," he said.
"The public must have no doubts that the armed forces, as an integral part of the Ukrainian people, will exclusively serve the interests of the people," the defense minister said.
"I am urging you, dear comrades-in-arms, to remain calm, show restraint and brilliantly fulfill your obligations before the Motherland," he said.
