Ukrainian patrol renders harmless extremist arsenal in Iraq

KYIV. Nov 24 (Interfax-AVN) - Ukrainian servicemen of the multinational forces in Iraq have found and rendered harmless an arsenal that militants wanted to use in attacking a police station and an Iraqi national guard unit, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry's press service reported on Wednesday.

"The Ukrainian contingent command obtained information on the location of an arms cache near the town of Al Suwayra. Extremists planned to use it while attacking a police station and the stationing area of an Iraqi national guard unit in Al Suwayra," a press service official told Interfax-Military News Agency.

A mechanized patrol of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' 7th detached mechanized brigade found a 60-mm mortar, two large-caliber machine-guns, and an antitank grenade at the specified location.
