Russia to launch American telecom satellite with governmental authorization

MOSCOW. Nov 29 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia will launch the AMS-12 American telecom satellite on board a Proton-M rocket with a Briz-M booster unit from the Baikonur spaceport. Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov has signed a governmental resolution to the effect.

The resolution approved a proposal of the Federal Space Agency coordinated with the Defense Ministry and other federal departments, the governmental press service said.

The government permitted the Defense Ministry to use space and defense systems for launching the satellite with the assistance of servicemen.
