TBILISI. Nov 30 (Interfax-AVN) - The South Ossetian Defense Ministry began holding two-day military exercises on Tuesday.
"Today, we are holding command-post exercises to test interaction between the armed forces' services, and on Wednesday battalion-level exercises with live firing will be held," South Ossetian Deputy Defense Minister Ibragim Gassiyev told Interfax-Military News Agency by phone.
He said military training would be held in the Java district, "outside the zone of the Georgian-Ossetian conflict."
Gassiyev also said that a large part of the 500 servicemen, located in the conflict zone in excess of the admissible number, will be moved to the Java district for exercises.
"We are again demonstrating our readiness to demilitarize the conflict zone in line with the agreements reached in Sochi by Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania and South Ossetian President Eduard Kokoity on November 5," Gassiyev said.
