Ivanov skeptical about exporting BrahMos missile

NEW DELHI. Dec 2 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov is skeptical about the export potential of the BrahMos anti-ship missile, which was jointly developed by India and Russia.

"I would not be too enthusiastic about the project. So far it has been a stillborn baby," he told reporters in New Delhi on Wednesday.

The joint project implied the production of about 360-370 missile systems, he said. "In the future they should be exported. So far nothing has been delivered to anyone," he said.

"The Russian side should sign a government resolution to increase the charter capital of the Russian company involved in the project. I hope this will happen in the nearest future," Ivanov said. This decision should help speed up work on the project, he said.
