Russia, India could jointly enter world weapons market - Putin

NEW DELHI. Dec 3 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has said he believes Russia and India could jointly enter the world weapons market.

"Russian-Indian military-technical and military cooperation has acquired qualitatively new features over the past decades," Putin said delivering a lecture at the Javaharlal Nehru Memorial Trust.

Russia is not only supplying weapons, military hardware, or up-to-date technology to India now, Putin said. "Joint activity in developing military hardware has been expanding more and more," he said.

"We could talk about a coordinated entrance to the world weapons market in the future," the Russian president said.

The two countries' armed forces have also been acquiring experience of joint exercises, Putin said. "Last year's maneuvers conducted by Russian and Indian navies in the Indian Ocean could serve as a good example," he said.
