Russia, India may arrange military interaction in C. Asia

NEW DELHI. Dec 6 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia and India have come to an agreement on possible military interaction in Central Asia, particularly in Tajikistan, a source from a Russian military delegation visiting New Delhi told Interfax on December 4.

The source pointed out that India is currently building a runway at a military airfield near Dushanbe, and Russia has a military base in Tajikistan.

"We have agreed to closely coordinate our steps related to military affairs," he said.

Russia "does not view India as a rival and will not even object to India's hypothetical presence in Central Asia," the source said.
